CAU LEGACY

Clark Atlanta University is known for its impressive contribution to higher education within the Black community. This illustrious institution has produced many influential alumni that are making an impact around the world – from politics and medicine, entertainment and business mogulship, to fashion design. 

Here are a few notable alumni continuing to uphold the rich legacy of CAU:

Kenya Barris, the creator and writer of Black-ish, in his office on the ABC lot in Burbank, Calif., in December. Black-ish is now in its second season, airing on ABC.

Kenya Barris is a trailblazing talent in film and television. He created the beloved series Black-ish, wrote for The Game, Girlfriends, Soul Food and produced America's Next Top Model with Tyra Banks as well as the movie Girls Trip. His work has earned him many accolades including a Primetime Emmy Award, NAACP Image Awards and the Rod Serling Award for Advancing Social Justice Through Popular Media. In 2018 he donated $1 million to Clark Atlanta University, where he received an honorary doctorate.

Pinky Cole

Restauranteur, Author & Philanthropist

Pinky Cole has blazed an inspiring path of success. Her plant-based burger restaurant chain - Slutty Vegan - has seen incredible success since 2018 when it began as just a food truck business. Pinky launched an inspiring book tour while also donating LLCs and paying tuition for graduates at CAU's commencement ceremony. And through The Pinky Cole Foundation which provides financial support & educational programs targeted towards children of color, Pinky's name will forever be associated with empowermentand achievement.

DJ DRAMA

DJ & Record Executive

DJ Drama has been a remarkable force in the music industry. His success began as T.I.'s personal DJ and continued through the iconic Gangsta Grillz mixtape series. He graduated from Clark Atlanta University alongside long-time collaborators Don Cannon & DJ Sense before forming Aphilliates Music Group (AMG). This group went on to release many successful projects for Jeezy and T.I. - producing studio albums for Gucci Mane, Chris Brown, Dead Prez & Wyclef Jean - ultimately making him one of hip hop's most acclaimed figures.

Eva Marcille is an inspiring, multifaceted success story. With humble beginnings in Los Angeles, she blazed her way to the top by winning America's Next Top Model and using that platform to become a renowned actress, fashion model and television personality. She has graced magazine covers, strutted down runways around the world and appeared on hit shows like Kevin Hill; Smallville; Everybody Hates Chris; House of Payne; Born Again Virgin; The Real Housewives of Atlanta and a leading role in All the Queen's Men.
